DOVESTONES PSPO OPERATION |
||
|
Dear residents.
Today, your Saddleworth Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out a proactive operation at Dovestones Reservoir, surrounding moorland, and the nearby road network in relation to the Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO).
The PSPO is in place across the moorland including Dovestones Reservoir, to protect the area from fire; The order prevents any: BBQs, Fireworks, Chinese Lanterns and any open flame.
As a Neighbourhood Team we are also ensuring that attention is given to concerns raised to us around anti-social behaviour, nuisance parking, and activities which can negatively impact on the local environment and those visiting the area.
During the operation today, officers have engaged with a number of members of the public, providing advice and guidance around the PSPO and acceptable behaviour. We have welcomed feedback from all those residents and visitors who were keen to voice their own concerns from their experiences when attending.
We have conducted vehicle stops, which resulted in a positive stop search for cannabis within a vehicle – the occupant being dealt with for the possession using Community Resolution (first time offence).
We are happy to report that there were no breaches of the PSPO but would like to remind the public that the PSPO remains in force and positive action will be taken against anyone found breaching the order.
Officers will continue to carry out patrols and targeted activity in the area to ensure it remains safe and accessible for everyone, especially given the nice weather, which attracts many visitors.
Can I please urge people to be vigilant when attending Dovestones and the area protected by the PSPO and report any occasions where they see anyone with fireworks/ BBQs and any open flame, which are all listed in the order.
Regards
PS 1650 Holian – Saddleworth & Lees NBO Sergeant.
